Our Mission

Working With Life Hope Church in the Omo Valley
Our Mission
Our mission is to bring the good news of freedom through knowing Jesus to the tribes of the Omo Valley, thus promoting peace and reducing conflicts and Mingi deaths.

We strongly affirm the ministry of the priesthood as expressed by Peter in 1 Peter 2:9. "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

A peaceful heart and spirit are part of being in God's family: Matt 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
Youth Peace Conferences
We plan and lead conferences for the youth of the Omo Valley with the purpose of training Christian Youth to go into their tribe and region to share the good news of Jesus.

Peace Conferences
A peace conference is a gathering of young and old, including elders, with the purpose of establishing reconciliation and peace agreements between tribes.

In 2022, our first peace conference resulted in a peace agreement between the tribes of Kara, Nyangatom, and Mursi.
Prior to 2022, these tribes warred for over 30 years.

Our next peace conference is July 12-14, 2024 in Kibish, Nyangatom near the Kenyan border.

Learn more about the result of our 2022 peace conference in the video below.

Evangelism and Deliverance
Spreading the good news of freedom through the power of the death and resurrection of Jesus is central to our work.

We take outreach trips ourselves to proclaim the good news, and we train young people to go out and share the good news with their own people.

Our goal is to train 1000 young people to proclaim the good news in the Omo Valley in the next 10 years.

Once people know the truth, the truth sets them free. They are delivered from oppression from evil spirits and experience peace in their hearts.

Church Planting
We plan to plant 50 churches in the Omo Valley in the next 10 years, which would equal a church in each of the 16 tribes. These churches will be a place to worship and to train young people in discipleship.

We believe that the church can transform the society to another peaceful level of mind. The Church can help you connect with Jesus and grow spiritually.

Church planting creates the capacity for young people to serve the community in a peaceful way and bring the environment to a higher level and a better vision.

The church can help a visionary come out and lead the tribes to a brighter future.
Food and Medical Program
Providing Relief To Those Suffering
The people of the Omo Valley practice flood-recession agriculture. This leaves them vulnerable to food insecurity because an entire crop can fail if rain is inadequate or crops flood and die. Cholera and other water born diseases can break out during flooding leading to wide-spread suffering.

Food insecurity leads to conflict. Our mission is to promote peace, and one way we can do that is to bring food to suffering tribes.

In addition, specialized medical care is not accessible to most Omo Valley residents. We organize clinics for specialized care, for example, eye care.

Through this ministry, we are able to show Jesus love and care to the people of the Omo Valley.
